FAQs

What should I expect?

Your first visit will last 45 - 60 minutes. During this time you will have an initial consultation where your symptoms are discussed and a full history is taken including your medical background and lifestyle. This, along with specific testing allows your chiropractor to build up an accurate picture of what may be causing/ aggravating your condition before carrying out your first treatment. If your chiropractor is happy to proceed to treatment then you will have your first treatment during your first visit.

If at any point your chiropractor discovers or suspects a condition that requires medical intervention, they will refer you to your GP for further testing and or imaging.

How will I feel after treatment?

During a course of chiropractic care you can expect to feel physical changes as your body realigns. These may include stiffness or tiredness, particularly after your first session. Your McTimoney chiropractor will give you advice on aftercare and any necessary lifestyle changes to help you get the most out of your care. It is important that you talk to your chiropractor if you feel worried about anything either during or after treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

The amount of treatments needed by each patient varies depending on the condition and how well the individual responds to treatment. However we usually would recommend a treatment plan of between 3 and 6 treatments. During this period of treatment which is usually spread out over a number of weeks each patient is provided with specific lifestyle advice to aid in their road to recovery.

What is a maintenance treatment?

Maintenance treatments are encouraged by your chiropractor to help keep your body functioning at its optimum level after the initial condition has been resolved. We would advise patients to come for a 30 minute treatment every 3 to 6 months.
